Mia Chen  Partner

Mia has worked extensively and widely on corporate and commercial issues in China, and has been deeply involved in the areas of M&A, restructuring, international trade, taxation, banking and finance and foreign direct investment. Mia has provided legal services to numerous multinational corporations in a variety of industries in China including construction of large-scale engineering projects, shipping and transportation, financial services, pharmaceutical and healthcare, steel, airplane, power, media, logistics etc..

Mia has accumulated rich experiences in handling employment related affairs, representing labor dispute arbitrations and/or litigations. She is familiar with labor related policies, laws and regulations, and especially active in assisting clients in resolving collective disputes or strikes, formulating proposals for HR restructuring or employee transfer etc., negotiating and bargaining with the unions or employees, preparing staff manual and various of rules and regulations, drafting labor contracts, non-disclosure agreements, non-conflict and non-competition agreements and etc.

Mia also specializes in cross-border construction and engineering issues with a particular focus on: shipbuilding and offshore projects disputes; marine design & license disputes; marine equipment purchase disputes; bank guarantee disputes and insurance and warranty claims etc. Mia appears regularly in variety of commercial and/or maritime arbitrations including London LMAA and ad hoc arbitrations as well as Singapore arbitrations, Hong Kong arbitrations and domestic arbitrations including CIETAC, CMAC etc.. Mia’s broad experience also includes various maritime disputes in respect of ship arrest and release, maritime contracts etc.

Mia also represents the clients (overseas and/or domestic) to attend hearings at different levels of Chinese court, assists the clients in drafting legal documents and contracts and attending various commercial negotiations.

Mia gained her LL.M at East China University of Politics and Law and LL.B at China University of Politics and Law.
